Changing from the “old“ to the “new“ PhD Regulations

As of 22 January 2019, the new PhD Regulations (passed on 18 December 2018) have come into effect.
As a consequence, all PhD candidates accepted after 22 January 2019 will obtain their doctoral degrees according to the latest regulations ("PromO 2018") without exception.

Doctoral candidates who were admitted to a PhD programme at the Faculty of Human Sciences according to the “old” statutes (passed on 10 May 2010) can choose between continuing in accordance with their original regulations or changing to the “new” regulations.

To make the switch, all you need to do is send an informal letter to the chairperson of the Doctoral Committee.
The letter should contain your name, address, e-mail address and should communicate your intention to change to the 2018 PhD Regulations.

Please note that changing to the new regulations is an irreversible decision, i.e. once you have made the switch you cannot go back to studying according to the old regulations.
